Jones Library seeks Library Technician


If you are detail-oriented, computer savvy, and enjoy seeing what other people are reading these days, this job is for you! No previous library experience required.

Job Summary:
The Jones Library in Amherst is hiring a Library Technician for its Technical Services Department to perform a variety of clerical tasks related to the cataloging and physical processing of all Library materials.

Duties Include:
The successful candidate will be trained to perform data entry, verify shipments of materials, maintain the Library’s Online Public Access Catalog, cover books, re-package audio-visual items, and repair damaged books.

Desired Qualifications:
A high school diploma or GED equivalent and two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience in a library or office, or any equivalent combination of related education and experience. Requires ability to operate a personal computer and an intermediate skill level with Microsoft Excel and Word. Bilingual capabilities strongly preferred. Experience working with diverse groups of people; ability to pay close attention to detail; ability to bend, reach for and lift books of all sizes and weights.

Pay/Benefits:
This is a part-time position (19 hours per week; Monday through Friday). The current hourly rate is $12.81 to $16.52, plus annual sick and personal leave.
